1. Importance of Rivers in India

  • Rivers are the backbone of Indian civilisation — from Indus Valley to Gangetic plains.

  • They influence:

    • Agriculture (irrigation)

    • Economy (hydropower, navigation)

    • Culture (pilgrimage towns)
